Adidas has long been one of the world's premier brands in fashion sport shoes. Now the German sporting-goods company plans to begin selling high-end mountaineering jackets next year, muscling in on North Face's turf as outdoor gear grows faster than traditional sporting goods.

Last time we wrote about the new Star Wars--themed shoe line Adidas was creating for 2010. At the time, only teaser shots were available. But the full deets are out, and the results, against all expectations, are kind of awesome.
What's particularly clever is how very subtle the Star Wars references are. Spotting these on the street, you'd never know they were themed cross-branding. But if someone told you what the visual inspiration was, you'd say "Ah-ha!"

Adidas Originals is joining forces with the (sadly but acceptably over-licensed) Star Wars brand for a new line of shoes and activewear due out early next year. Though this isn't the first time Adidas and Star Wars have partnered, the results of this year's collaboration are much more promising (read: nerdy) than the last. To celebrate Def Jam’s 25th anniversary, the hip-hop icon and Adidas collaborated to come up with Def Jam’s signature series. Def Jam’s own Forum is made of metallic leather upper and man-materials with a velco ankle closure. A blended design of signature Forum Mid and Stan Smith II, the side heel panel features Def Jam logo while the words “AD.BO.DJ.25″ are embossed on the side ankle.
